In 1990, a deadly 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit many parts of Luzon in the Philippines. Baguio City, a popular tourist destination, was devastated. The earthquake caused so much damage to many of Baguio city's famous landmarks and tourist attractions, resulting in a drop in tourism and the economy. But in 1995, the Panagbenga flower festival was created. Panagbenga, or Kankanaey for “Season of Blooming”, attracted tourists to the city, and over the years, the festival is now considered one of the most popular festivals in the Philippines. Panagbenga is held in February and is a celebration of Baguio city's rich culture and history, featuring its colorful flower parades and performances. If you plan on traveling this February, Baguio City is a good place to visit.

My suggestion to tourists is to take public transport like bus or vans going to Baguio because at times like this the traffic gets very heavy. Almost everyone are going on their private cars. You’ll have a hard time looking for parking spaces. It’s easy to walk around the city anyway.

My grandparents built their home in the Baguio, La Trinidad area before WW2 and it still stands today. My father told me in his younger days he would walk on Session road and there wasn't a single person he did not know. Today when I walk on Session road there isn't a single face I know.
