Love Bruce Lee, but one landed punch from Tyson, I think would be the end of the fight for Lee, due to the sheer power from Tyson.

The advantage for Mike in this fight is his weight and power in his punch's and in his early 20, s his hand speed was unmatched. But boxers like Evander showed he could be beaten with a sound defense. Bruce's advantage in this fight would be his kicks that he could throw straight out as fast as Mike could throw a punch. For me Bruce's strike power with his kicks and his lightning hand speed that enabled him to trap punch's would give him a win. But Mike was a world champion boxer and won many matches by knockout.

If one wants a more honest assessment of the same subject matter, I would recommend the video of the same or similar title on YouTube from "Seth the Programmer." It's amazing to me that Bruce Lee was the greatest fighter ever because he: (1) won a high school boxing competition (2) he and only he, knew the way of the intercepting fist (3) was not only a fighter but a philosopher; (4) was obviously the only fighter in the world who could adapt and think on his feet (5) could eye gouge and/or kneecap anyone on the planet with ease. I would also recommend not listening to me but researching Martial Arts Sensei and Grand Master David Hughes take on the Bruce Lee myth. Sensei Hughes was also a close friend of Joe Lewis who said that Bruce lee was a great teacher and actor, but "NOT a fighter." I grew up and learned during that era and heard similar stories. In all sincerity, I truly think that Bruce single-handedly placed the martial arts on the proverbial map. But just like other icons of note, such as Muhammad Ali - although we can respect their many contributions - that alone - do not make them better than 7 billion other people - plus the many billions who preceded them. One cannot JUST respect Bruce Lee - one must worship him - or be ridiculed. This - in itself - is completely and utterly ridiculous. Now we are comparing him to one of the greatest boxers ever - who unlike Bruce Lee - has a plethora of visual, documented proof to justify his reputation. Mike Tyson doesn't rely on someone most have not heard of emphatically stating that he. could put anyone's eyes out - as if to say, that if you don't have any other proof, just say that he could put your eyes out or kneecap anyone. This is often repeated, as if the rest of us have never been taught eye gouges and kicks to the knee. Being a philosopher - however impressive - has nothing to do with fighting, Ask any of the former boxing champions who grew up on the streets and can't even spell philosophy. So he is also the greatest due to his rare ability to adapt or think on his feet. Are you kidding me? Tell that to Benny Urquidez, Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Pernell Whitaker and numerous others. Do a google search and find a video of Bruce Lee truly fighting anyone - not to mention someone of championship caliber. This comparison is just another sham. It doesn't even mention the fact that Mike Tyson is famous for putting many of his opponents to sleep in a matter of seconds - all while wearing 10 ounce gloves. Imagine what he would do to Bruce Lee with no gloves. Bruce Lee was the person who inspired me to get into the martial arts. I will forever respect him for that. His portrayal of Kato ( on the Green Hornet) left me spellbound. I had never seen anything like it. That was until I studied in Japan - and Okinawa - and Thailand - and England - and finally Oklahoma City of all places. I have met many a great martial artist and think it is stupid to claim that one person can beat everyone - when in reality, HE HAS BEATEN NO ONE.

I'm a fan of both Bruce Lee and Mike Tyson pretty much equally, but it's laughable to think that Bruce Lee could beat Mike Tyson in a real fight. Tyson is a world-class professional boxer and is one of the greatest world champions ever. Those are 100% facts. There were stories of Bruce Lee's real fights, but the only thing we actually know for a fact is that Bruce was one of the greatest martial arts _performers_ of all time. Bruce is a legend, and I'm a life-long fan of Bruce, but his professional fight record is 0-0.

When talking about a Martial Artist you can never count them out. Bruce wasn’t a Boxer. He wasn’t even a mma type guy. He was a student of Martial Arts and was trained to use it for life or death situations. Not trading blows or winning on points. Not to see who was better or for money. He was trained to try and kill his opponent if it came down to a fight. Tyson on the other hand wasn’t trained to kill. He’s was trained to Box which means money, scoring points and if possible knocking your opponent out. The big difference between Tyson and Lee is that Lee would be going for vital areas of the body. Parts that can potentially cripple and or kill you. Kicks to the groin. Punches to the throat. Eye gouges, etc etc.. Tyson on the other hand is basically throwing punches to the body and head which are dangerous but not as crippling or as easy to take you out as a solid kick to the groin or a crushing punch to the throat or an eye gouge.
Tyson has the size of Lee but Lee wasn’t just some ordinary guy off the street. One swift kick to Tyson groin and the fight could be over.

I clicked on this thinking about how many times I've played this match up in Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo.

Everybody knows Balrog was based off Tyson, but There are a lot of Bruce clones in fighting games as a whole. the one in World Heroes is straight up named Dragon.

I enjoyed your analysis and speculations, most thorough. We can never know who would win between these two. My best guess. It's too tough to call.
[In Addition] After giving this more thought, unintentionally. I think if it were a boxing match in the ring where official boxing rules apply. Tyson would have a strong advantage.
Although Lee was incredibly fast. Tyson would only have to land one good shot. But If it were an actual combat in a parking lot or ally somewhere, with no rules and the winner had to completely incapacitate the opponent, I think Lee would take Tyson out. Really. I had a lot of training and experience myself. I dropped guys twice my size in real fights. Obviously Bruce Lee was capable of more. But still no matter how much I think about it. it's just speculation, based in my own knowledge and experience. There's really no way to know.
