Yes there are improvements and I'm not saying it sounds bad. But everything else is exactly the same. Meaning I still can't use it in my setup. It's listed as a streaming music player. That it does. But I'm paying for a dac that I don't need. Not saying it's bad. I'm paying for a headphone amplifier that I don't need. Not saying that it's bad. I know that I can bypass the DAC and use my own external one. I just don't want to pay for all the bells and whistles that I just don't need and won't use. If it was fully balanced and had XLR output from the internal DAC I probably would have kept it. That was the deal breaker for me. It paired well with my NAD amplifier.

balance controls? due to Listening Room Acoustics, I need that function, and not having it in my 2i is an ongoing headache. lots of requests have been sent to bluesound to add this functionality, but they haven't done it yet. is it on this new version?

A DAC upgrade is definitely needed for _all_ Bluesound products, as you can buy a USB DACs for under £100 that obliterate the standard Bluesound DACs in clarity and detail resolution.

I liked my node.., it was great value for the $ got me a long way into Hifi streaming.., I spent 5 x the price to take the next step

Note to BlueSound… most of us have external dacs and hp amps. Please improve the sound performance of the unit, give us a matched linear power supply, give us an I2S output to our external dacs. Perhaps even a visual display screen. Ifi and hifi rose are making kick butt streaming products right now. Love the blue IOS but the wiim pro works natively with amazon app.
