My mother lived in fäboden during summers with the cattle, about 1915 and a few years on. She would show us how they called the cows in the evening. It seemed so lonely to me. We moved to Louisiana in the 1970s so that's a long time ago and I'm in my mid 70s, but it tugs at my heart to think again how she spent her years as a young girl in Dalarna.

My mother had white cows, vit fjällko, in Jämtland. If you wear rubber boots all the time, or gum/plastic soles, then you don't get grounded. It is good to go barefoot or lie on the ground for 30 minutes, as much as possible. You can get wooden hangers from Denmark, cheaply. Don't need to use plastic ones. They are so much better.
