Rock Crawling in a LIFTED Bronco!

At the Bronco Super Celebration West, we had the opportunity to take my 2021 Bronco to the top of Mosquito Pass, 14,000 ft above sea level! After airing down my tires, we were ready to hit the trail in Rock Crawl Mode. I was very impressed with how easy Rock Crawl Mode made the trek, for me and the Bronco Sport Badlands in front of me! I purposely took lines that were as difficult as possible and was very satisfied with how my Bronco handled the terrain. Something that I had to stop and check on was the wheel well liner on the front driver's side. As I was using trail turn assist, the tire tore the mounting points and caused the liner to tear. We also got to talk with Greg Nicholas, Director of the Bronco Offroadeo, about his experience with rock crawling. After the Ride and Drive, we aired up the tires and were ready for our drive back to Alabama!

I can not watch enough bronco videos, it’s the only thing that makes waiting on mine to get built more bearable

In 1982 on Taylor pass river road, just west of Buena Vista Colo., I helped the Mile High Jeep Club recover a stuck Jeep CJ with a Handy Man Jack. Lifted the Jeep back end up and pushed it sideways off the jack and away he went. I was driving a 1979 Ford Bronco XLT with a 410 Cu inch engine and a 3 speed Auto tranny. fixed sway bar and basic skid plates. went everywhere with that including Mosquito pass, Taylor pass, Tincup and East Tincup pass, Italian pass and dozens of others only got stuck for a few minutes at a time thanks to the Handy Man Jack, 3 ton come-along, some chain and a snatch strap and of course, a good shovel. I sure miss my 79!

Thanks for posting! I’ve been a jeep owner for more than 20 years and really thinking of getting the bronco just for comfort!

The mine site you passed are the remains of the North London Mine. It was a gold mine that operated from the late 1800s, until WW2. The mill is down in the valley below and was connected to the mine by an airial tramway.

Dude - that's not rock crawling. That's a dirt road with rocks on it. I dont think Mosquito Pass is 14, 000 feet, square or not.

Fun video and glad the Sport was included. Hopefully you provide a more detailed video going up the pass including, what you learned, and some about the Sport. Now that the Bronco is out, the Sport is not getting as much attention, which is understandable, but it is still a capable vehicle. Thank again!!

Greg was one of my trail guides at Bronco OffRodeo Texas. Greg has over-landed across six of the seven continents on the planet and knows his stuff. If you haven’t been or haven’t signed up for one of the four Bronco OffRodeo events, I recommend it for everyone.

Wish we would have talked to you when we were there in Buena Vista we could have taken you on a few more challenging trails. In fact that full size Badlands non Squatch in this video with you was with us on the Sunday prior to SCW running a pretty cool trail down there

You should really go do the MOAB off-rodeo. That increased my off-road confidence in the Bronco 10 fold. They don't joke around on that trail. I was surprised.

Mitch, have you been to Wind Rock part in East Tennessee (Oliver Springs)? Not that far from Birmingham and well worth the drive to experience different types of trails there. One of the best off road parks and only about 4 hours from you.

I will like to see bronco sport badlands do rock crawling and rough off-road as well. Can you tell us more about bronco sport badlands? Like it’s strengths and weaknesses.

Love the new Bronco. Wife is a Jeep girl.. and I'm a F150 guy. Gotta say though.. I had a 1978 VW Beetle.. and that thing could do some things in the hills of Mexico that were pretty crazy by today's standards. 😂😂😂

The wheel liner issue was at no fault to the bronco. Was good to see how capable it really is!
