I've always done my sequencing this way. Takes to long to edit. Much easier to go back to that section and make changes and you're done. On to the next song. Thank you for the info my friend. Most definitely going to purchase one asap!

Isn't this how the machine was intended to be used? That's what a sequence is made for as far as I understand it and if you're doing anything less you're using the machine wrong. Program builds your sound, track holds the program, which tells it what sound to make, and sequence is the whole chunk of music. I literally don't know how to use the machine to make a song any other way lol.

Question for you. I don't use mine for hip hop and am trying to build entire tracks on this with melodies that progress through an entire verse.. If I have a 16-32 bar verse, would I have to have a 16-32 bar drum track layered with a 16-32 bar melody track? would be nice to loop a 4 bar drum track with a much longer melody/harmony track.. any ideas?

Can u do triplets on the DJS-1000 like u can on the mpc live?

You're using MPC the way it is intended to be used. People are tied to the visual of having their entire song on a single sequencer but it gets so messy and easy for things to shift around.

Silly question but how you get sequence 2 to play keyboard and drums at same time? I’m struggling cos I only see I can play one drum program at a time.

There is no right or wrong way to create! "Tracks" to me is confusing and is like doing extra work. I used to work the MPC 2000 so I like the simple drums and chopping samples for 90s styles beats.
