HTC EVO 3D Hands-On | Pocketnow

Here's a look at the EVO 3D from HTC on Sprint. It's HTC's first 3D phone, which provides glasses-free 3D viewing of photos and video taken with the camera. It has a super fast dual core 1.2GHz CPU Snapdragon processor with 1GB of RAM. The screen is resolution is qHD 960x540.

The 3D content is recorded with dual 5MP cameras on the back of the phone. There is a camera hardware button, next to a 3D/2D toggle which quickly lets you select the recording mode.

Looks sturdy, and solid to hold in the hand.
I'm eager to try this out. Specs speak for itself.
A whole wopping 5" wide, 6 ounce phone would feel
great in the pocket.

Agree. Even w/o 3d, with these specs its a perfect successor to the HTC EVO.

3D or not, the new HTC Sense looks pretty sweet! Just look at that smooth transition!

@WakingLife55 Actually no it's practically perfect. It allows the user to virtually be able to hold the phone from any real direction without interferance from the charger being in. Portrait mode works with both the left and right hands, and landscape works without having to slit your fingers around the charger.

though it depends on how good the 3d and camera are, the phone itself looks really nice. battery life is also essential.

Its funny the HTC guy didnt know where the widgets were. Phone Rep training is top notch. I probably learn more through Youtube vids than they do in training.

@Nx724 he's from sprint, not HTC. some of these questions won't be able to be answered until sprint employees are trained on the device.

@Slimm2240 Android apps are programmed using JAVA . JAVA supports multi threads ! (for ages) . When you use openGl es2.0 its also optimized for multi threading. Mobile manufacturers are not fools to release dual core mobiles if it is not really needed !

To answer the question that the sprint rep amazingly didn't know... for "2D pictures" the phone still uses both rear-facing cameras. This is a feature called parallax photography which will allow the phone to use two 5mp cameras and produce one 10 megapixel image. Very cool technology. This sprint guy was worthless though.

i hope there is going to be an option in the settings to turn 3d off when ever i don't want it, even if it doesn't have the option i am still going to buy it though

can you turn 3d off ? seems like it could save battery and i think just the specs make the phone ausome ... i wonder if the priginal evo will go down in price

@frazie46 yeah that's cool... but if I got a built in kickstand for free with the first Evo, where is the incentive to buy one built into a case? And what if I want a better case, like the Otterbox, Ballistic or a Seidio case instead of the generic phone case HTC is almost guaranteed to sell? Now I will have to hope their cases come with a built in kickstand as well.

@0ChrisJones0 now i wouldn't say all of that.. it depends upon the content that's being displayed in 3D and the device that is Displaying the 3D.. do you mean like in movie theaters or like this kind of 3D where it's not exactly 3D but they add this "feature" on to charge more?
