Classic TV Theme: The X Files (Full Stereo)

A landmark in sci-fi television, 'The X Files' (1993) had its ups and downs but at its best wove a compelling web of speculative fiction. Fifteen years after its nine-season run, Mulder and Scully were back in a reunion series; with only a relative handful of episodes it was more like a miniseries but at least they gave the show a proper finale. Mark Snow's whistling theme has become a musical signature for the unknown and it underwent only minor changes over the years. The opening sequence won an Emmy, the first of 16 the show would be given.

The production locale changed midway from Vancouver to Los Angeles because David Duchovny wanted to be close to his then wife Tea Leoni.

Chris Carter was against the move (it was his show, made by his production company) but gave in when Gillian Anderson backed Duchovny. In the process through, it lost loyal crew members, and I believe the X-Files fanbase hated the move.

Then after all that drama, Duchovny quits anyway.

The films and the rebooted series both were filmed in Vancouver.

Never watched the show but always loved the theme by the great Mark Snow. I bought a CD single of it when it first appeared.
I wonder if the whistling itself was done on a synth?
