Welcome to The Lordsi Youtube Channel, My Names Lordsi (Simon Hall), im a passionate Content creator and streamer. I make all types of content from reactions, funyn videos, vlogs, skits, gaming and so much more. The PlayStation 5 (PS5) is Sony's latest and most powerful gaming console to date. One of the key features of the PS5 is its ability to deliver an immersive gaming experience with stunning graphics and lightning-fast performance. Recently, Sony has announced that the PS5 now supports 1440p resolution at 120Hz through HDMI 2.1, making it an even more impressive machine for gamers.

With this new feature, gamers can now enjoy their favorite games in a higher resolution than the traditional 1080p, which was the maximum resolution supported by the PS4. The 1440p resolution offers a higher pixel count, resulting in sharper and more detailed images. Additionally, the 120Hz refresh rate means that the images will be displayed more smoothly, reducing motion blur and improving the overall gaming experience.

The support for HDMI 2.1 is another major advancement for the PS5, as it allows for higher bandwidth and faster data transfer rates than previous versions of HDMI. This means that gamers can now connect their PS5 to a compatible TV or monitor with HDMI 2.1 and take full advantage of the console's capabilities. The HDMI 2.1 also supports other features such as variable refresh rate (VRR) and auto low latency mode (ALLM), which further enhance the gaming experience by reducing lag and improving image quality.

In conclusion, the new feature of the PS5 supporting 1440p resolution at 120Hz through HDMI 2.1 is a major improvement that will elevate the gaming experience to new heights. Gamers will now be able to enjoy their favorite games in stunningly high resolution with smoother motion and reduced blur. The addition of HDMI 2.1 support also means that the PS5 can now take advantage of new technologies that improve image quality and reduce lag. Overall, the PS5 continues to prove itself as a powerhouse in the gaming industry, delivering top-of-the-line performance and cutting-edge features.

This YouTuber is wrong so I'll clarify. You can play at 1440p/120fps or 4k/60fps using HDMI 2.0, you can even go as high as 1440p/144fps on PC through HDMI 2.0. Some rare HDMI 2.0 displays even allow VRR at any resolution on PS5 despite being only 2.0 but these exceptions are very rare.
HDMI 2.1 is only needed to get VRR working on PS5, which is stupid because VRR works fine on Xbox Series S/X using HDMI 2.0. Also, 2.1's extra bandwidth theorically allows 4k/120fps although in reality no PS5 games actually deliver this level of performance.

Great video! I play on 1440p with 120hz, but VRR is not supported because i have a Hdmi 2.0 output monitor (the monitor supports vrr, but not with ps5). My question is: How important is VRR? Maybe ill buy a DisplayPort adapter

He is wrong btw....
Your tv most likely supports 1440p just change the HDMI from auto to compatibility. Then you can play at 1440p.
Some things like HDR may not work.
My TV supports all resolutions. Vrr and 120hz and 240 hz at 1080p.

So you need to have VRR mode on and of course have a HDMI 2.1 in order for it to work on my Sony Bravia Led TV?

My Samsung g5 27 its 1440p monitor and when i connected it with my ps5 it’s say that the monitor can output 2160p and its more clear then the 1440p how its that possible I’m sure it’s not a real 4k and when i play on 120hz it’s changed to 1440p automatically

There needs to be a way to specify what it tests, it was working gloriously in 1440p VRR 120hz with Dolby Atmos, and then suddenly it now it won't even test over 60hz in 1440p but will test 2160p in 120hz and showed as capable of 2160p VRR 120hz, but not 1440p. It has the worst testing and storing whatever it supports. like the most random switching. I want to tell it exactly what it needs to do. My OLED G9 has no issue at much higher 240hz resolutions and higher 5260x1440p, this is such a shame for PlayStation 5. Sony Do Better.

Thank you! you are the only one that explains this clearly and efficiently. But please help with one problem; I have a brand new PS5 (it came with an HDMI cable, I also bought a new certified 2.1 HDMI cable from STOUCHI, the TV is brand new and supports 120Hz, it even has an HDMI port for it, but it's still not working. I get that same warning you showed. any ideas please?

Sorry, but the game has to be able to output at 1440p. I've already tried this on games that don't, and it doesn't work.

I wish I could get VRR support but apparently you need HDMI 2.1 I am at 1440P at 120FPS with my HDMI 2.0 is VRR worth the upgrade to 2.1 ? Or not ???

I've heard native 1440p on ps5 does not support VRR only if you downscale from 4K because a HDMI 2.1 is require, can any one confirm?
