What a heartwarming story. I had a similar experience as a police officer. I had arrested a young man and he was subsequently sentenced to a year in the county jail. During the arrest procedure I had the opportunity to talk with him and encourage him to use the experience as a step towards seeking a better life. He seemed to be a person with a good heart. Three years later I was clearing a traffic stop and a car beeped and pulled over. It was this young man, trying to thank me through his tears. He had indeed turned his life around and was married with a small child, succeeding as a father and husband. We never know what effect we might have by showing kindness. It's true that many might have no effect at all, but that one success is worth many failures. Thank you Jesus, all glory and honor to you.
