Daimler Motor Company Limited, the oldest British car manufacturer, was established in 1896 by Frederick Simms in Coventry, England. The company initially licensed the Daimler name and technology from the German Daimler-Motoren-Gesellschaft.
Daimler quickly became known for luxury vehicles and was appointed the official supplier to the British royal family in 1902. Throughout the early 20th century, Daimler built a reputation for high-quality engineering and innovation, producing a range of prestigious cars, buses, and commercial vehicles. In 1960, Daimler was acquired by Jaguar, which subsequently became part of British Leyland.
Despite changes in ownership, the Daimler brand retained its association with elegance and luxury, continuing to produce distinguished cars until the name was gradually phased out after Jaguar's acquisition by Tata Motors in 2008.
Throughout its history, Daimler Motor Company Limited has been synonymous with luxury, innovation, and royal patronage, leaving a lasting legacy in the automotive world.
