Update on other GPUs for memory upgrades. I am currently working on a 3060 Ti to upgrade it to 16GB. Other 3000 series are work in progress. A BIOS edit would be required to double the memory on these GPUs. Once the 3060 Ti is completed a video with step by step process will be uploaded. RTX 4000 series cannot be upgraded as they all use 2GB modules and are the highest capacity modules produced to date. GPUs that can be upgraded are 3060Ti, 3070, 3080 10GB, 3080 12GB, and 3080 Ti from the 3000 lineup. The 3000 series is a work in progress starting with the 3060 Ti. Don't forget to subscribe and hit the bell to get notified when the video is released.

It never ceases to amaze me how microscopic work some people do and make it look easy. Absolutely brilliant!

“Messing with the internals voids the warranty”, is a good piece of advice for the average consumer. It doesn’t matter as much when you’re so good with hardware that you don’t need a warranty.

I don't know why people are so affraid of giving details when repairing or modifying these boards, it's not like i'm going to invest 10 years of practice and thousands of dollars into repairing these boards, it's just good to know that if something goes wrong and i still care for my graphics card i still am able to do something with it if the tech guys seems up to the task.
Thank you sir, i hope you have a long time with your good hands and eyes.

I might be too old, but back in the days, graphic cards had free slots/sockets for memory upgrades. You could upgrade its ram as easy as you could upgrade the system's ram.

This is a MASTERPIECE of ART!
You basically made the GPU last for other 5 years starting from now.
I'm thinking of my RTX 3080 Ti which has 12GB of VRAM, if upgraded to 24GB, basically it would not be necessary changing it for the next 10 years or so.
I mean, this technique is really something to not underestimate, it really gives "old" hardware a chance to be reused and not be thrown into trash, hence, promoting hardware recycling.
I really wished I had a brilliant electronics specialist as you neeaby my place....
BRAVO!

I ran a company a few years back with my dad that repaired ECUs in the motor industry. You remind me of him. Honestly the best channel I've found in months. Good on you for keeping older tech going!

21:30 I had no idea they used the resistors like old school dip switches or jumpers. Thanks for the videos! Helps demystify graphics cards!

wow gpu repair channel are blooming like crazy nowadays. I remember when my first time trying to learn this, a lot of it were in Hindi and some have really low quality video that it make it really hard to identify what they were doing, and some would charge 5k$ for 3 months course. Glad to see a lot of people are sharing this for free now.

I've been wanting to do this for my GPU for the longest time. I will use your video as reference. I started getting all the equipment I need for it.

I do a lot of fine pitch mods/installs, but I have so much respect for BGA work. I don't think I could ever reach this level of skill.

Hi man im blown away by two reasons in this video. 1. Your work is clean well explained and instructive. 2 your honesty. I mean you are legit the first one saying you work with a tool that you do not like but also tell the viewers to stay away from this said tool. You just got yourself a new subscriber. Keep up the goid work. 😀👍

one reason to have more vram on an older card is so that you can do 3D animation rendering with it. GPU based 3D rendering requires you to load the model into VRAM for each card so the amount of VRAM becomes a limit to the complexity of scene that you can render. more VRAM equals more complex scenes. You can also use multiple cards and split which cell they render to improve render times but you cannot stack VRAM so having more VRAM is very helpful. keep up the good work.

Not sure why this popped up in my recommendeds, but watching this is giving me nightmares of doing manual rework on prototype surface mount boards back in the day, which I was *very* aware were worth more than my annual salary at the time - I was told to take as much time as I needed for that run, since the premium was very much on precision & not killing components or boards. Talk about stressful!! On the upside, to my knowledge, I never killed anything. Nice bonus at the end of that run too! :)
Much respect to anyone doing this kind of manual rework - kudos.

Thank you for applying the thermal paste properly, man. I've seen so many videos of people maintaining or repairing graphics cards, and they don't spread the paste, meaning that parts of the silicon are at risk of not getting cooled properly. Spread paste if on bare core/silicon/diffusion barrier. Use whatever method you want if it's on a IHS.

This was in my recommended videos and I see why
I will say I'm truly impressed
I subscribed because I can't wait to see more but this is genuinely the first ive ever seen of an individual doing something at this level 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I doubt I could ever replicate this but would be fun to play around with a card like this and see how it stacks up to its traditional relatives

AMAZING. And I am only 10 minutes in. I wish I knew how to do this stuff. I wish I had the brain capacity to even learn just a little of what you know. I get very nervous just pulling the stock cooling off and adding waterblocks the few times that I have done it. This is next level! I actually have 2 2080ti Asus Strix just laying around not doing anything anymore as I have already moved up to 3090's and now a 4090 since. I wonder if they are still worth anything. Maybe a PC for my grandkids. Great video you are a master!
