I recommend scrub the mold off with almost boiling water and borax once, or an oxiclean type cleanser, also hydrogen peroxide works wonders, but I would clean it firstly and then lastly apply the borox as a wood preservative would be. Make sure the water that is mixed is always near boiling but you leave the borax on, to dry, do not rinse it off. Good video. Thanks

Don't repaint the walls. Paint will trap moisture between the wall and the paint. Paint is likely what caused the mold your basement walls need to breathe. If you decide you need to dry lock the basement walls it must be done from the outside and is super expensive. Moisture will come through that wall no matter if you paint it or not.

I tried this technique this week and had good results. I had a couple of questions, though: How long should you let the borax solution sit on the mold before scrubbing it off? I scrubbed it off immediately, but then decided to repeat the spraying. Also, why use clear water to hose it off after scrubbing? Wouldn't hosing it off with more of the borax solution give the treatment a little extra effectiveness? One thing I learned is that it's necessary to shake the sprayer well, to dissolve the borax. Mine got clogged with tiny chunks of borax and wouldn't spray strongly. Very helpful video in all though, thanks.

@HowToVideoChannel I have cinderblock walls in my basement. The basement used to take on water but had a crew come out install mew drainage etc. They drilled holes along the bottom of the cinderblock as well. Since that has been completed I have to now get the mold off certain parts of the basement including a corner next to my water heater and furnace. Can I use Vinegar and water, or bleach and water and afyer its clean and dry do u recommend I paint with mold prevention paint? I have painted the basement with that 1x and I have the mold back, but that was also prior to having the basement crew out. Thank you

video was very helpful for me. i am in a similar situation but large large area. Can i ask... how much do i have to scrub off i have thicker patches but i scrubbed an area for two hours and i feel like i have so much still on the wall... where you had your thicker darker pieces... after scrubbing, was it completely gone before painting and priming? or did you still have discoloration. I appreciate the help!!

Does the black colour actually come off the bare concrete areas? Or does it look black even though you've cleaned it? It looks like it only came off of the areas with paint under the old. Thank you
