And yet Netflix is wondering why their revenue and their value is going down, while less and less people want to invest in their company, when they’re doing things like this.

The animation looks like it was made in 2006. How did Netflix pick up this garbage while cancelling lots of good shows?

In the live action adaptation, they _at least_ clarified that the dogs can only talk to each other and other animals, not humans. I imagine they're following the same logic here but didn't bother to explain it at all.

I'm so mad at Netflix. They have all these great animated shows. And they throw them all away for for this?

If we lose the second season of Arcane I’m blaming this movie, I don’t care if that doesn’t make sense XD

Dear Netflix. If you want to recover from the humongous gap you fell into during 2022, just do everyone a favor and keep on with your promise of supporting animation. In other words: Stop cancelling hyped shows, firing employees and giving priority to things no one cares about.

This makes the live action version enjoyable. Yeah it was bland, but I’d rather have bland than a complete train wreck playing in slow motion.

I'm all for stylized designs but god damn. This dog looks malnourished. You've got a huge beefcake of a breed to work with and you make him a greyhound/deer roadkill hybrid.

This movie came out over 10 years after the last Marmaduke movie, I am absolutely baffled at how badly this is animated. The cgi in the 2010 one looks literally a million times better than this, I'm surprised they even bothered with the fur textures. There is no way this wasn't a tape from 2007 just pulled out of somebody's garage or something, I hate looking at it!

They did it... The crazy bastards actually did it... They actually managed to make 3D-animated character designs that *SOMEHOW* look worse than the ones from The Addams Family (2019)... I'm unironically, genuinely impressed.

I had to watch this movie in science class...they said it was our "reward" for doing well on testing. Everyone was upset, nobody was laughing, people were taking 20 minute long restroom breaks to avoid it. We couldn't even fall assleep to avoid it because the movies painful dialog was keeping us up.

8:30 the fact that this is the most replayed part of this video makes me already imagine the kind of "fanarts" the mom is gonna have

I wish people who made comic movies actually read the comic. The Marmaduke comic was a slice of life, one panel, one liner strip. It's about a dog who thinks he's people, but it's actually about the people trying to get along with this force of nature big dog. As soon as I heard that Marmaduke talked I knew they went the wrong way.

When it comes to adapting classic comic strips into animated feature films, you can either do it fantastically like the Peanuts Movie or you can reside to low brow shlock as seen in Marmaduke.

Y'know, this reminds me a lot of the dream I had when I fell asleep while watching TV. My brain went weird, it decided to weave each show into one another. Which is how I was able to witness speed racer try to kill a giant snail with his car before suddenly driving off a cliff to his death for no damn reason...and then it got weird.

The way Marmaduke's body moves in most of those shots just makes my skin crawl. It's like they tried to go for stylized but missed and hit uncanny valley instead. I think it's mostly the way his limbs move and bend. It would look okay on a spider, but he's supposed to be a dog.

In my head, movies like this exist because a bunch of old people sit around in a room and say "OH! This was popular when I was a kid! Kids like this stuff! Let's market off of it again" without realizing they're so out of touch with the world by decades.

From what I've heard, Scooby was designed to be, for lack of a better word, an inverse great dane. With bowed legs, bad posture, etc, all his physical traits are the opposite of what a breeder would want from a dane puppy. He's a reject dane and it's wonderful. So i'd say not designed based off Marmaduke.

For the Record: Marmaduke is a long running comic strip that dates back to the 1950's. Starring this big dog and his family, its humor is derived from having a pet dog, the series is essentially about "man's best friend" at it's heart, and to that effect it even has a side feature within the comic series called "Dog Gone Funny" which is dedicated to dog related anecdotes sent in from fans! The series creator Brad died in 2015, so now new strips are made by his son, Paul. I have no idea what they think of the movie(s), but as far as i know, Marmaduke fans don't care for them. (In my opinion, it deserves better than, this.)
