Where’s the light
That shone for me
My comfort friend
My enemy

I almost feel you sitting there
That blessed hook
That holy snare

In my mind
I often go
To a place
I only know

Darkness keeps me
Company
I feel those arms
Surrounding me

What daylight shows
You must beware
You’ll never know
How you got there

I am waiting here
Across the wide frontier
Who will take me there
Cry out loud
Like a sinner’s prayer

The fallen day
We all could see
The bitter taste
Was bitter sweet

You offer me another taste
My skin’s exposed
My body aches

Oh if I’d only overcome
