Steve did the Traces album as a fulfillment of his promise to the love of his life, Dr. Kellie Nash, who lost her battle with cancer. She made him promise that, even if she didn't make it, he would not retreat into the shadows like he had done prior to her meeting him. Her laugh was actually left on one of the tracks at the end of the song. It's so funny that she had no clue who Journey or Steve Perry were until they were together. Considering Steve was 70 yrs old when he did Traces and hadn't been making songs for over 20 yrs, I thought he did sound amazing, too.

He recorded this album at 69 years old. He is currently 73. The best way I can describe his voice is like honey: it mellows as it ages, but it’s still sweet.

Mans showed up after 20 years and just instantly drops bangers. While I think a lot of people recognize Steve for his vocal talent, I don't think he gets enough credit for the musician he is. Even though many of his songs with Journey show him and Neil Schon as co-writers, anyone who has listened to pre-Steve Journey will be able to recognize that it is really Steve's writing that made Journey the great band it was. Definitely my all-time favorite rocker.

Last time I saw Steve was when he surprised everyone on American Idol to support the contestant singing his song Don’t Stop Believing. He just showed up and sat with her parents, so kind of him! Watched it all with you Adogg!
