Yes, makes perfect sense. Regulate the crap out of knowledge, licensed advisors so that they can’t help people. Meanwhile, the public is left to horrible advice from influencers who aren’t licensed and can say whatever they want after mentioning a stupid disclaimer. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Glad to have you back & agree w/ everything you said. As a new advisor I was confused by how some people are able to say as much as they do on YT despite the regulations. My company has a lot of rules around all of this so I thought that maybe they were just being overly cautious. Looking forward to seeing what creative ways you come up w/ to share info 👍🏾

I’m an advisor in the states, I’m going to start posting content myself… I share the same frustration w/ the gurus and their free reign on shoveling out disinformation. My question is, do you feel it’s more so your brokers being conservative or this is actually the regulators that are the reason you took videos down? I feel like if you were independent you could do this on your own, hire your own compliance consultant and just go! The tech is there, it’s cost effective… that’s why I’m independent, I don’t think keeping the gatekeepers makes much sense nowadays

Thank you for sharing your experience! Yes, it isn't easy to compete for marketing & exposure when the unlicensed influencers get to say what they want without having to worry about compliance. At the end of the day, I do hope that consumers become educated enough to differentiate and filter what's right and what's incorrect, so we can avoid future societal problems resulting from grievances on making wrong financial decisions.

As a former financial advisor, he is correct. Compliance in the USA/CAN financial markets is extremely burdensome! It's one of the reasons I sold my practice. When you own a firm in America the state auditors will come to your office even if you work at home and look through all your files and trades, and quiz you on why you bought or sold certain securities. Just stick with advising financial advisors. Best of luck 👍
