How to find property lines with a bounty hunter metal detector

I have a Garrett AT-PRO and was looking for my pins but didn’t think to turn off the iron discrimination. I was having a hard time finding the pins until it occurred to me to turn off the iron disc, once I did this I found the first pin immediately. I know the lengths of my property lines so the other 3 pins were very easy to find with just a pin pointer.

Why would a prop. line indicator necessarily be near the water meter, as opposed to "on the prop. line?"

Does the pin represent the edge of your property? So if its the corner, the second you pass the pin in either direction then it's some else's property?

isn't it easier just to look it up from the county info on the website? still didn't save us any money. 7k for a survey on 5 acer and we already have the corner pins located? please.
