This is so important. My dad was often on the road/traveling for work but when he spent time with me it was doing something I loved. He watched anime and viva la bam, helped me with straightening my hair in the morning before school, took me to warped tour. He always knew how to connect with me and share my passions.

It sounded like he wants to parent an overachiever as he is. I think the best is do a 50%-50% deal with your child. What does she/he loves to do, do it and show them what you love to do. Let them observe. Anyways just by watching you and your example they pick up so much more then we think.

It’s important to do those stuff with your child/children but you must also spend time doing the things they like together. Their kids don’t make thm grow up too fast.

That’s your problem right there bud.
You projected all your insecurities of not being enough onto your kid, secondly that is not enough quality time by a long shot, you didn’t let him choose what you did, so showed no interest in what he wanted to do but… I feel sad hearing this guy. His intentions were good by so much negative subconscious stuff going on there
