It is absolutely incredible how he can lie without the slightest bit of shame or regret, as though he believed he was innocent. I believe that the countless individuals who worked in various capacities in the Federal Government and elsewhere justified lying to serve the cause to which they were all so fervently dedicated. They truly believed in what they were doing. Many of them took great joy in working to subvert the US simply because they hated it and hated the people who created it. What greatness would the US/World have achieved had these people been caught in the 1930's?

Being a Communist Party member is never forced. If you agreed to be a part of that world you should stick to your principles which means NOT turning state and ratting others out. No one else deserves to go down for you. Snitching is morally wrong.

It is interesting that the codename "ALES" is the first and last two letters of the name Allen Dulles rather than Alger Hiss.
