Very informative. As a trucker i can tell you the walmart thing isn't a "LAW", it's a policy depending on where you are. Always best to check with management first.

It's amazing how, when someone tries to inform us about a topic, instead of being grateful and taking it with a grain of salt, we find a way to tear it apart. Let's choose our battles carefully. Not everything needs to be a fight. Life is hard as it is. Choose love, not hate.

Please post the actual law that states you can not travel with propane on. I am a law enforcement officer and the only times you can't travel with propane on is on specific roadways. Specifically tunnels and they are posted to turn off the propane. This is more of an urban ledged
than anything.

crossing my chains SAVED MY BOAT
trailer hit a bump in the road hard enough the hitch came uncoupled at 45 mph…(two in the morning..no traffic..70 mile trip to the marina)

thank GOD I decided to set chains for this ..short… trip!!

had to use truck tire jack to get the hitch back on ball.

great tips and reminders that what WAS LEGAL LAST YEAR…
might not be this year

I don’t understand why people are so paranoid about driving for a couple hours with the propane off. Your food won’t spoil as long as you don’t open the fridge, and you turn it back on when you get where you’re going. It’s just common sense to err on the side of safety first.

most new trailers have a single anchor point for safety chains now. Crossing them is pointless. They should have stuck with the 2 anchor points.
I agree propane needs shut off, if you get in an accident, propane lines, hard or rubber can and will break/puncture and you have a deadly propane leak. Nothing to stop it from just emptying the tank on you. Which is why vehicles have fuel cutoffs so they don't "generally" keep pumping fuel out after taking a hit.

The other problem with overloading your trailer is that if you have an accident, your insurance won't pay.

IF you find a WalMart that's not too sketchy to stay overnight in, ASK FIRST before you park AND ask WHERE you can park in their lot.

I had a CA trooper try to issue a ticket for no license plate for trailer that didn't require stay in my home state. Took a supervisor to get him to drop it.

As for State Parks our experience is, if the Ranger don't see beer cans/liquor bottles you'll be all right. That goes for being loud and obnoxious behaver too. So be cool and enjoy an adult Coke or an adult lemonade on me.

Often overlooked for overnight last minute parking are fairgrounds. Most will even have signs posted about fees and a payment drop box.

I had one RV park nailed me for not having my sewer hose on a flex bridge. The park said it was a city ordinance that no sewer hoses were allowed to touch the ground :o
