I was newly arrived in America around 9-11 and man, that was such an eye opener on how the general public thought.
I was exposed to just how fragile my fellow citizens would be to manipulation and propaganda.
I could not believe they were driven to attack the wrong country because of 9-11.

I came from a third world and I know the usual tricks politicians play.
And it was a learning experience seeing the population succumb to fear mongering in real time.
Our country is full of weak minded people.
And just like any other third world, the people aware of the trickery and the educated, are helpless for we are few and outnumbered as we watch the majority fall into line like manipulated lemmings.
It is sad.

I have long believed fear and distrust is essential to conservatism. This has resulted in a GOP that is devoid of policy and instead relies on the idea of the "enemy." This amorphis generalized fear has become the modern GOP. It is no longer a political party but a collection of grievances. Thanks for another great video. Love your work!

The trouble is people are very resistant to being told that they're being manipulated. No one wants to feel gullible and if they're in a heightened state of fear they're going to be even more resistant to being told that what they believe is untrue.

Thank you so much. I've already shared it with a couple Conservative leaning cousins. The fear tactics are being used the same up here in Canada, by Pierre Poilievre and his Conservatives. As are all the Conservative run provinces.
Do you have further suggestions on how we can fight against the spread of needless fear? Conservatives have done such a great job at destroying public education, that trying to explain to people actual reality instead of what they've been fed... It's on the level of cult deprogramming.
That 30% of each of our populations have fallen for this ruse is deeply concerning.

I admit, I am scared of a second Trump presidency, but I'm having a hard time seeing how it is an invalid fear. I've read project 2025, and I've listened to what he has said.

As a leftist ai can understand their fear. I think this is why I try to talk to people without using the trigger words, to help them know that leftists, communists, are not out to kill them or take them out, but are trying to help them get their needs met. To help them get jobs, get their dreams, get their needs. It’s about being skeptical of scary systems, but instead of blaming others, trying to hold the ones in charge accountable, and change things for the better.

As one of my professors said, “When you see something that makes you angry, that’s good. It means you wanna change it, that you wanna do something. Use that anger, that energy, to invent, to do something, to help.”

Reminder that this is also a core part of why blocking social programs is so important to conservatives (and other neolibs), because a greater risk of losing your house incites more fear, and impedes critical thinking.
