Some real estate transactions and development require a more comprehensive land survey than others. For this reason, the American Land Title Association (ALTA) partnered with the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) (formerly American Congress of Surveying and Mapping [ACSM]) to develop a more rigorous land survey standard.
