BMW iX M60 | Exclusive Review of the 610 hp M Electric SUV

The all-new BMW iX M60 is the first M Performance variant of BMW’s electric SUV but, more importantly, it’s the first ever M Division product to use the brand’s all-electric architecture. The only other electric M Performance product is the i4 M50 but that uses a modified CLAR platform.
The iX sits on a bespoke electric platform, which is a first for the M Division, who does the tuning work on M Performance products.
Being an M Performance variant, the BMW iX M60 is obviously quite a bit more power, packing an M5-rivaling 610 horsepower and a planet-churning 811 lb-ft (1,100 Nm) of torque. Admittedly, both of those figures are only available for a short period of time, when Launch Control is engaged.

Otherwise, under all normal circumstances, the BMW iX M60 makes 532 horsepower and 749 lb-ft (1,016 Nm). However, during launch control the iX M60 is capable of 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds. Top speed is electronically-limited to 155 mph, like most other BMWs.

Pricing in the US market will start at $105,100, plus $995 destination fee. That makes it almost exactly the same price as the standard BMW X5 M. With 610 horsepower, 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds, and an all-electric powertrain, the BMW iX M60 is shaping up to be one of BMW’s best performance SUVs.

Big BMW fan here going back 20 years. I own 3 currently, but the new design direction is HIDEOUS. What were they thinking? I still can't believe this wears an M badge. It looks like some base model trim that went terribly wrong. Fast doesn't make up for fugly. Great review BTW.

Bmw fan here. Very innovative piece of tech however there's something quite off with the exterior design of this car that's not too appealing to me.

Well-done again Horatio for showcasing BMW👌🏾. You really make this BMW Blog to be about BMW products as they are. No attempt to influence your audience whether to like or hate those products. Importantly, you don't use this BMW Blog to promote rival products at the expense of BMW.

I find these flat screens that are replacing the dashboard as we have always known it, un-car like, for a lack of a better phrase. I've tried very hard to like them, but so far, it's a tough struggle. They look like an after thought item that had no place in the car, then someone said, "put it on top of the dashboard". Completely no cohesion with the rest of face of the car's interior. This is not just with BMWs, but all car manufacturers. If the grille is the face of the car's exterior, the dashboard has always been the face of the car's interior. These screens are such a radical transformation of the car's interior's face, that if it was the face of humans which changed this much, we would be saying that we have become a different species. I must however say that I think that in the Concept XM they have done a better job of implementing this "big screen" approach. Hopefully BMW can evolve their big screens until we recognize them again as the "face of a car's interior", rather than the current mutant face of a teenager's gaming console.

If it had an “extended range” battery it’ll make it appealing. Otherwise after less than 100 miles you’ll have to recharge the battery. If you buy a M performance vehicle you’ll want to push it to its limits and not drive in “economy mode”….

Current X6 owner and BMW is about to lose a customer REAL FAST unless they STOP modeling their electric SUV after an X5. That's the reason I chose an X6 in the 1st place because I don't like the blocky design of the X5. The 2023 model year will be a make or break time for me and BMW. Hybridize the X6 or I'm OUT!

Just to demonstrate how STUPID designers are sometimes, they put a camera washer that sprays fluid on the paint. Imagine having just washed your car!
