I'm an American who lives in the Southeast, we are pretty homogeneous over here and you can drive for several hours in any directions and not hear anything different from your hometown. When we hear an accent like that, it sounds exotic to us and its like a raven that finds something shiny. We just like it because it stands out, it's different.
