It is one of those full circle moments that have to happen for the story to be complete. It would feel cheap if they did all that build up to not do it. Although even sir night eye said that deku had changed his predictions through his sheer will and determination to make his own fate. So if Horokoshi goes that route it would be nice if he takes that angle instead of something else that would cheapen it.
