In this piano tutorial, I teach you about rootless voicings. Rootless voicings are quite simply a chord, or voicing, without the root note.

They have many different purposes. One of them is to stay out of the bass players way and not clash by duplicating the root note. Another reason is by not playing the root note, you have more fingers to play more extensions add more harmony to the voicings.

In the video, I demonstrate the 5 1 4, 7 3 6, chord progression with the root note in each chord, and then we turn each chord into a rootless voicing to see the difference it makes to the sound.

I have a question 🙋‍♀️ please 514 without phrasing you did. I’ll like to know the finger placements especially for the right hand because I’m wondering if you have six fingers lol
