Can your range drop over time? I started in high school choir as second saprano but not i can't hit those notes in full voice or mix voice. I have to switch to falsetto.

Okay so now I understand why my voice is getting very squeaking and you can hear less pronunciation when I got really high

This was helpful. When I was younger I was a soprano. Recently as an adult, I joined a small choir (8 people) and they didn’t have any sopranos. I’m pretty sure I’m a mezzo now but since they lack soprano I’ve been expected to sing soprano. I can hit most of the notes but the really high ones I feel like I’m going to pass out what do I do?? 😂

I have been only told by my teachers that I am a soprano but it feels like a little exagerated, and I have no idea if i am technically a mezzo as opposed to soprano.. my range is from around a C4, (or a Bb3 the lowest, .) And I can go up to around a C6. Although I never sing up to that point, .. I also would say that my voice has a more "dark" color/tone quality to it than a soprano does, .. I do have videos on my channel and would love to hear your thought!

Meh. I'm a contralto and can sing tenor, alto, or soprano up to a point, but I mainly sing soprano in choir. My voice is lower in general, but 1) the music we sing seldom goes above G5, and 2) since my voice breaks lower than the actual sopranos I can get a clear, loud, quality tone in my upper register without having to wrestle through the passaggio as long as it doesn't go too low. I only run into trouble when the soprano part wants forte below an F4 and I need to shift to lower register to get the volume. I don't know where you get the idea the voice gets softer at higher notes. To hit an A5 I am obligated to go loud so if I miss it everyone knows (which is why we don't go that high). Women need to have a naturally high voice to sing the really high notes softly with a quality tone. It's going too low that you lose volume.

I will say this--a lot of natural contraltos think they have a terrible singing voice because most female pop stars are singing in a range that covers the contralto break. When they sing low they're teased about sounding like a boy, and when they try to use their upper register they're laughed at for trying to sound like an opera singer. Kids always ask me why i don't sing "Happy Birthday" with a "normal" voice and I have to explain my speaking range doesn't go high enough to sing the same note as them i have to go opera lady.

Hello! Nice video. I have a question, the highest I hit was C5 and the lowest was G3. What kind of voice type do I have?🥲I’m confused

I'm fairly comfortable up to C6 (D6 in classical singing). I can go a few steps above, E6 or even F6, depending on the style. But... I prefer not to. 😅 I don't have a tuitor after all. I can go a few steps below C4 but again....I rather not. C4 is such a low note already. Going too low is the death to my voice. My head voice is strong but my chest voice is rather unimpressive. Who knew low notes could be so difficult? It can cause massive staining for me. It's insane how uncomfortable a note too low is.

Hi thanks lot for the video i would like to ask what my voice type is cuz im so confused. The lowest i hit was E3 but can hit D3 sometimes and C#3 with growl technique and highest was E5 to A5(head voice? I don't really know)most comfortable singing males songs/low female songs and when i try to sing along with female songs i always goes into falsetto especially high notes .I am untrained/self taught so that might be the case too. When i go higher i feel like my chest is pulling upward and sound thinner and noisy. But what really confuse me is that i feel like my voice sound childish and I also can't tell if my voice is light, heavy, bright or dull. Can you please help me?

Hi!
This is an absolutely lovely video! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

I would like to ask.. I have always been classified as a Soprano as I can Comfortably reach F6, and I have quite a lot of power in the whole 5th octave and enough in the 6th (enough to be decent at the Queen of the Night aria).
However, I also have a very low register where I have lots of power in my chest voice and it feels really comfortable too. I can sing as low as E#3.
My transition is in the 4th octave.
I cannot whistle sing 😅

Do you think I’m an Alto with a high register or more likely a Soprano with a dark tessitura and low range? 🤔

Lastly, I have a dark and powerful voice vs light and air-y sopranos (if that makes sense).

Would really appreciate any insight!

Hi love your videos, especially your vocal warm up videos, I just tested my vocal range and the lowest note I can sing is A#3 and the highest note I can sing is E5, does that make me an alto or mezzo soprano, thanks?
