Its not looking good for The Marvels, with box office predictions putting it 72% behind Ant Man 3, rumours of awful test screenings and massive editing cuts to trim the runtime.

Remember everyone. Don’t go and see it. Just watch the drinker’s review. We don’t want to hate-watch it and give Hollywood any money.

When your movie HAS to make $800 million, you really need to evaluate what your doing.

Makes me chuckle that these tankings will be chalked up to superhero fatigue and not the fact that entertainment is subordinate to ideological preaching

My gut feeling is Disney will protect The Marvels at all cost which means buying ghost seats in the theaters.

This movie will make Drinker and YouTube creators more money than Disney will make from it. It’s going to be the pinnacle of the failures of the M-She-U

They can always buy their own theatre seats like they did last time 😅

On the topic of recasts, they should've recast Black Panther. His character wasn't given the heroic conclusion that he should've had, and let's be honest: no one prefers his sister to him. But, it's not like they couldn't have recast him (they recast Rhodey and Banner, after all), it's that they didn't want to. It shows they don't care about the stories and characters more than they do having certain actors in the roles. On that note, I don't see them recasting Iron Man or Captain America anytime soon.

I think of Disney's anti male turn for Marvel & Star Wars as sort of like if Hallmark decided that they wanted to broaden their audience to include more men. So, they reduce the amount of romance, increase the amount of action/violence, recast some of their favorite reoccurring characters as men, and have everybody on screen talk up the new male version as better than the loser woman version that they replaced, switch from all female lead shows to (almost) all male lead shows, and everything else Disney is doing but in reverse. They also fire most of their existing writers and hire a bunch of male writers straight out of a frat house. Then they are shocked, shocked, when their existing female customers reject the changes. In reaction Hallmark calls all of their existing customers misandrists. Then are shocked again when their existing female customers take offense at just wanting the content that made them Hallmark customers to begin with. To top it all off, the men never really show up. Anyway, that's how I see how all of Disney's problems can be seen as a failed attempt to expand their customer base, and doing it in a way guaranteed to lose their existing customers in the process.

Miles Morales was orders of magnitude more popular than Ms. Marvel BEFORE Spiderverse. Let that sink in.

Even The Pirate Bay can't give this away!

Only way to save Captain Marvel is to turn her into an antagonist IMHO.

Considering how the first movie was handled in terms of PR and the media attacking the audience, and also how terrible the current phase has been, it doesn't surprise me at all that the prediction are so low.

I wish MCU keeps on doing this, I always eager to watch many critics making more elaborate and entertaining thing to watch

By killing Tony Stark and retiring Steve Rogers, it made Endgame feel like the end. then instead of waiting a year and doing something fresh like F4 of X-men they just kept on churning out slop with their B cast. you could recast characters, but also give it time, like 5-10 years of them not being important, cause Tony Stark still feels important to the MCU in its current form.

Ant-Man Quantumania had the beloved Paul Rudd, plus whatsername Freckles from LOST, Michele Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas, plus BILL MURRAY in the ads! What's this movie got besides a very tired Samuel L. Jackson, a lead actress who has no appeal and two characters almost no one knows from two streaming service shows? Mind you, I was really hoping the SHIELD characters from the TV show might have shown up in Endgame (because Quake has more charm than half the female characters in that infamous group shot and the prospect of a bunch of Patton Oswalts armed with huge guns just gives me the grins), so I'm not opposed to TV characters in a joined universe in theory. But there are no stars in "The Marvels"! To say that Marvels will get almost Quantumania money is nuts.

I hope it gets a cinema release so we can all laugh at how little it makes.
Streaming releases are a little harder to quantify.

I'm neutral on Brie Larson and don't really care for Captain Marvel as a character but even I find that idea that she isn't the main focus of her own film an eye roll. Redeem her as a character with a good movie, don't distract with even lesser characters.

RE: Captain Marvel in 'Endgame', the part where Thanos slugged her right out of the picture actually got a cheer at my cinema viewing.

The cost of hiring the legacy actors was likely a big factor in ending things as they did. For Endgame you're looking at hundreds of millions for the main cast, and that's not sustainable - particularly now Disney is moving away from being a for profit company.

I disagree with the idea that Carol Danvers is a good character. The character has an infamous track record of failing to sell comics. She’s (at best) been a useful member of a team or as an interesting plot device in other much more popular characters’ stories. The second the MCU tried to push Carol Danvers as the Marvel equivalent of Wonder Woman, every Marvel comics fan knew a huge mistake was being made.
