Programming in C could save the Environment

I guess it's true that everyone could save the environment, even programmers. In this video, let's discuss the energy efficiency of different programming languages.

Nice concept but that assumes everybody would learn C and be able to program in it efficiently. In the "real world" suicide rate would spike, as well as coffee, fast food, alcohol and therapist demand. As a result of depressed sad population. Everything would take ages to develop and who knows what other consequences would it have. C is efficient to execute. Not to write.

How does writing buggy software help the environment?

Theoretically I'd say yes but that's a benchmark based on pre-existing conditions. Actually developing code for what you need can vary depending on your knowledge and the pre-existing libraries you use.

For example I have some libraries I developed to making slideshow style navigation much easier in JavaScript but some of the code in JavaScript itself has some abilities built in that you can't just do as easily in other languages. It would be nice to see a benchmark using the common libraries in code to see what benefits more.

A good example would be more in the case of HTML.
On-Click CSS3 Animations vs On-Click JavaScript Animations. Each person has there own idea but.... that's not a debate I'd want to start right now here lol.

High electricity usage isn't that bad if it comes from environment friendly sources (wind, water etc. ) and not coal burning (I looking at you US and China)

Sticking to programming in C to save the environment would put a big clamp into progression of science and technology. It could be enough to prevent some of environment saving technologies from emerging. The work done by a computer should be maximized. You should use as high level language as you can and have a program transform it into something that finally runs. Anything else, including writing everything in C, is slowing you down too much.
