In this excerpt from Charlie's keynote at Appjs Conf he talks about building with React Native & Expo and goes into detail about how to build apps with React Native and Expo.

There is still, in some corners of mobile development, a misconception about whether you need to decide to use Expo or React Native. It simply is not a question any developer needs to ask. Each Expo tool is designed intentionally to be used without any lockin or baggage. You can pick any Expo tool and use it in your React Native project.

In this short video Charlie recommends different ways of using Expo tools by themselves and using them together.

hey expo team, just want to thank you for developing expo.
Me and my team had 0 app dev knowledge and lacked infrastructure, thanks to expo we were able to launch our app on both the stores that too in a very short amount of time.

Isn't there another way to build without using EAS? I run "npx expo install expo-dev-client" to install packages outside of Expo. Immediately afterwards, I am asked to log in to EAS.

Expo provides much easier installation than CLI. Also, it is a great pleasure not to have to deal with Android Studio and xCode. However, it seems to be more complicated than CLI. There are many different ways to do one step but I don't know what to do and what I'm doing right or wrong. Also, some methods have been removed and it is annoying to deal with them.

Expo is not a great tool... It's an excellent tool... After combining the power of expo and termux, I can say Yes! One can build an app on Android phone directly without touching a PC
