தேர்தல் ஆணையராக அருண் கோயலை நியமனம் செய்ததது பாஜக அரசுக்கு சிக்கலை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது. ஒன்றிய அரசின் செயலாளராக பதவி வகித்த அருண் கோயல் கடந்த 18-ம் தேதி விருப்ப ஓய்வு பெற, 24 மணி நேரத்தில் அவரை தேர்தல் ஆணையராக அறிவித்தது ஒன்றிய அரசு. ஏற்கனவே கே.எம்.ஜோசப், அஜய் ரஸ்தோகி, அனிருதா போஸ், ரிஷிகேஷ் ராய் மற்றும் சி.டி.ரவிகுமார் ஆகியோர் அடங்கிய அரசியல் சாசன அமர்வு தேர்தல் ஆணையரை நியமிக்க பின்பற்றப்படும் விதிமுறைகளில் மாற்றங்களை கொண்டு வருவது தொடர்பாக விசாரணை நடத்தி வருகின்ற நிலையில் ஒன்றிய அரசின் அறிவிப்பு பல்வேறு விவாதங்களை ஏற்படுத்தியுள்ளது. மே 15ம் தேதி அன்று காலியான பதவிக்கு 6 மாதங்கள் கழித்து ஒரே நாளில், மின்னல் வேகத்தில் ஏன் பதவி நியமனம் என்ற கேள்வியை எழுப்பியுள்ளது உச்ச நீதிமன்றம். முறைகேடு ஏதும் இல்லை என்றால் ஆவணங்களை தாக்கல் செய்யட்டும் ஒன்றிய அரசு என்றும் அறிவித்துள்ளது உச்ச நீதிமன்றம். இந்த வாரம் ஏன் என்ற கேள்வியில், அருண் கோயல் நியமனம் மற்றும் தேர்தல் ஆணையர்களை நியமனம் செய்வதில் பின்பற்றப்படும் நடைமுறைகள் என்ன என்பது குறித்து விரிவாக அலசுகிறார் ஊடகவியலாளர் ஷபீர் அஹமது.

The Supreme Court’s five-member Constitutional Bench headed by Justice KM Joseph is hearing a batch of petitions challenging the process by which Election Commissioners are appointed in India. During the course of the hearing the Supreme Court had raised some critical questions regarding the appointments made in the past 20 years. On Thursday, November 24, questioned the ‘haste’ and ‘tearing hurry’ with which the Union government appointed ex-bureaucrat Arun Goel as an Election Commissioner, saying his file travelled at ‘lightning speed’ within departments in 24 hours.
