I will give Bruno the benefit of the doubt in terms of finishing to say he played no preseason games apart from the Manchester city again and played last night and I think the only thing missing from his game was finishing last night and we all know Bruno’s finishing will become better as the season goes on

My biggest takeaway was the collective buy-in of the players into the new game model. It suits the team and the players seem to enjoy it. Doesnt put too much pressure on any one player or position and allows the team creat a lot of chances. I cannot wait for them to improve their implementation so its more fluid and everyone knows where they should be and what they should do instinctively. GGMU!

The game felt very different compared to last season. I know it is the first game of the season, and against Fulham, but it felt like United were in control for most of the match. It didn’t feel like we were going to concede at almost any point, which is different from last season, when every posession the opponent got felt like we were gonna let one in.

The players seemed motivated as well, but that might just be because the season just started.

The two main things I think we need to improve is the finishing as well as making it more difficult for the opponent to dribble through the midfield. At times Fulham got to the edge of our box in a few seconds from their own half.

The one thing I enjoyed above all else last night was the fact we didn't concede 30+ shots, as per usual, and our heads didn't go in the second half either.

We looked more solid, more composed and switched on.

I'm still not sure this formation is quite working, but it's only the first game of the season and players are not fully match fit yet.

The key will be Brighton now. If we can beat them too, we begin to build some momentum going into the Liverpool game.

It's actually quite classic Ajax football, well before EtH, to have a centre forward rather than a striker linking up with a (more) gifted nr. 10 while the fast runners to beat off side are on the wing and more forward than the centre. It doesn't need to be the quickest, most athletic great dribbler, he needs to be comfortable on the ball, comfortable with his back to a defender and arriving in the box to score rather than being there a lot.
