The American XL bully dog will be banned in the UK by the end of the year after a series of serious attacks, the prime minister has said.

Announcing the move, Rishi Sunak said he shared 'the nation's horror' over recent dog attacks, and that he 'wants to reassure people that we are urgently working on ways to stop these attacks and protect the public'.

US needs this law. Tired of irresponsible dog owners killing people.
There is absolutely no reason to own this breed. It was bred for fighting.

Anyone saying ban the owners not the dogs really need to try and put themselves in the shoes of the victims or their families.Guarantee if they were attacked by one these XL bullies or their child had been brutally killed by one, they’d be singing a different song!
I agree that poor ownership adds to the problem but the breed itself is a problem due to the sheer size and capabilities it possesses. When it is a hopeless situation for who or whatever they are attacking, then it is clearly too dangerous to be out in public. Why risk more lives for the sake of owning this unnecessary breed.

It was about time! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Blame to all the irresponsible pitbulls owners! Not the Government!

Any person who chooses to have this breed is an immediate WARNING SIGN in and of itself. As I would never trust the owner, I would never trust their dog.

They’re a menace to ordinary people and should be all put down because of all the lives they destroy. Anyway, that’s enough about the Tories, now about the dogs…

As an American, I applaud this and hope common sense legislation like this will follow here.

Meanwhile in Florida we have done the complete opposite. 😢 Guess Florida supports children being mauled. Literally just passed a law making specific breed bans unacceptable. 🤷

The difference beween an Xl Bully and the intelligent German or Belgium Shepard both used by the police and millatry is that Shepard's have the tendancy to only attack on command ....

It's not nurture over nature when a breed of dog was exclusively created for a blood sport.. THAT MEANS KILLING OTHER ANIMALS! We are talking about breeds of dogs that were exclusively used for killing things for almost 200 years... How does one nurture the killing nature out of an animal exclusively produced to be a lethal killing machine... Not exactly the dogs fault. We created modern day dogs to suit specific roles hence why there are so many types.... Just because most dogs these days are pets and not working animals doesn't make it impossible for the true nature of these animals to come to light once again and it is horrific to even think you or a loved one could be on the receiving end of an attack by one of those dogs. Have a look into the history of dog breeding over a 300 year period an you will see what I'm on about...😮

Animals which exist in an unpredictable mode, and are capable of inflicting serious damage very quickly, should be strictly controlled.

You 'unconsciously' buy a particular breed of dog... because it mirrors your soul.
People that are attracted to brutish, childlike, dangerous looking dogs are restless, lost individuals.
With a deep anxiousness about their place in society. Who all love their dogs more than themselves.
For they emphatically empathise with it, through its outward appearance and temperament.

In the 70’s they blamed Doberman’s, in the 80’s German Shepard’s, 90’s Rottweilers, 2000’s it was pit bulls now it’s the XL bully….When are we going to blame the HUMANS?

So banning XL bully is now the PM top priority when yet another teenager was stabbed and died over night, around 50, 000 offences a year recorded caused by knife or sharp object and this doesn't take priority?

Sadly the problem of fatal dog attacks will NOT stop after this ban. It will only stop, or drastically reduce is when individual humans and the actions of individual dogs are dealt with. ANY, and I mean ANY dog which is out of control is dangerous, regardless of its breed, size, strength or any other factor. If it's out of control, it's dangerous.

I cant help but notice that nobody is looking at the breaders and introducing breading laws and starndards. If anybody can bread a dog then anybody can buy a dog there is the problem. Thats how irresponsible people get hold of these dogs. A respectable breader doing it for the love of the bread will only sell there dogs to the right people.
