How to Use VISA Gift Cards ONLINE When Your Visa Gift Card Isn't Working

Visa gift card not working? Visa gift card being decline? Visa Gift Cards are flexible. #Visagiftcards can be used online, in stores, in apps and over the phone at nearly every place that Visa debit and Visa credit cards are accepted. EXCEPT sometimes...they don't work. Though cashiers can often resolve in-person #giftcardissues and gift card declines, online transactions are different.

In this video, I'll share with you 8 reasons why Visa gift cards might not work online, how you can solve Visa gift card online declines, and my favorite Hack for using Visa Gift Cards online. #giftcardhack

1. Visa Gift Cards must be activated (there are two types of activation)
2. Visa Gift Cards work better online if you register and add a name/address
3. Some Visa Gift Cards have a waiting period
4. Visa Gift Cards purchased in the United States must be used within the U.S.
5. Visa prohibits gift cards from being used on certain sites and apps
6. Visa Gift Cards may not work for recurring payments such as a subscription service
7. Visa Gift Cards may decline at restaurants, salons, food delivery apps and other places where the final transaction amount is not known when the card is pre-authorized
8. Visa Gift Cards will not work if the amount charged is greater than the card balance

In this video, I'll share how to get around (or at least understand) those common decline reasons and share my hack for using Visa Gift Cards online when the amount on your card is less than full amount of the transaction. Sometimes Visa Gift Cards are difficult to use online because most online shopping carts allow for only one debit or credit card to be used. Since Visa Gift Cards have to be entered in the bank card field, there's no way to complete the transaction with a second form of payment. But with my gift card hack, you can create a split-tender (or partial payment) transaction online. I do this all the time.

This hack is especially important though if you have a Visa eGift Card (Visa Virtual Account) that must be used online.

My card is supposedly already activated, and I was told to fill in all the info like I would any debit card. It's a Vanilla Visa debit card, it says on the back the funds don't expire but the card expired 5/30 according to the front (?)

I was trying to buy a pack that's on sale for Sims 4, on Origin, and entered all the info the way I was told and I got this notice:

We were unable to verify your credit or debit card. Please check your payment details and try again. Alternatively try another credit card or payment option or check with your card issuer or bank.*

I'm really confused I don't know what I did wrong. It should work shouldn't it?

I bought a Visa gift card as supposed to be a Libby used online I've just been going through a rock divorce for the class 2 years I wanted to get on a dating site but I can't use our joint card because she will see the transaction and it will be sent to the lawyers it's been 2 and a 1/2 years I want to get back into dating I bought a car to try using line and it wont-work. We've been trying to get to the end of it where I can register it for online use but we are failing I even have 2 clerks working from the store where I bought the card there are young girls 18 and 19 that have more computer conspiracy than me at 49. They can't figure out how to get in to register for online. The online subscriber requires that the name address phone number on the card coincides with mine we cannot find out how to get in to activate it to put that information in. Can you please help me

I wanted to buy something online and I just bought today a prepaid visa gift card and I activate it by the instructions it asks but it still doesn’t let me purchase anything. Is there a time waiting period for it to activate to purchase things online or what should I do?

Hello! Ty for the video. I’m having some problems…I purchased a vanilla Visa gift card for 60, along with activation fee. (in person at CVS). I checked my receipt, I see no waiting time to use for online shopping; but it did say activated.
I called the numbers on the back and it stated my card is activated and has a total of 60 dollars.
I’ll be honest, I did use my card right away for online shopping.
After a payment was declined multiple times (I can afford the purchase, the website does allow gift cards), I called the numbers on the back again and something changed: it said my card isn’t activated.
I looked up vanilla gift cards online for activation, but I only received “card cannot be activated.”
Do I just wait the typical 24 hours? I’m assuming the gift card is blocked?
A proper answer would be appreciated!

I saw your website the other day and happened to randomly find your channel just now. I forgot to register the card before using so I immediately registered it right after when I saw the sticker(poor lighting). I've read that fixes the problem but now I cant login the giftcard website and what I used it for has just been on a pause like thing waiting for the money. how do you spend a paper (virtual) Visa GC with a $4 balance. I cannot find anywhere that does a GC to purchase for less than $4. And if I do a purchase it is holding $1 of the GC amount. How would one ever be able to use the last $1 if it's always holding that? UGH
