The best certificate of deposit accounts or CDs to open in 2022 and the basics of investing in CDs, from what they are, to the differences between Bank CDs and Brokered CDs.

With inflation raging at 8.6% YoY and the NASDAQ and Stock Market now in bear market territory, you probably want a safer place to stick you hard earned savings! I've found the best CDs (certificates of deposits) for you to invest in with the highest returns.

In the video I cover:
1. The basics of Certificate of Deposits and the difference between bank and brokerage CDs
2. Pros and Cons of CDs
3. Examples of situations where I would and would not use CDs

And finally, I walk through actual rates that banks are offering now to help you get started if CDs are right for you. With inflation and the Federal Reserve increasing rates, CDs could be a good option for many investors.

The biggest drawback with CD, is that they are taxable, you must pay the yearly tax due before maturity.

i'm glad i finally ran across a video about brokered cd's. Remember too that brokered cd's have different terms than regular cd's sometimes

CDs are also often flexible in that you can get the interest paid out monthyly if you are retired and looking to get a set income stream

It's my understanding that bank of America is paying almost 0% interest and so loss of savings is maximized.
Bank of America is in denial of inflation as savers lose their savings. It's weird.

Does the interest rate of 2.50% for 20, 000 $500 per say, apply monthly or yearly? So, would I get 500 extra or 9, 000 after 18 months?

You didn’t talk about difference with bank CD and brokerage CD? That would help in understanding which once is best. Thank you!

Being a true novice investor and recently retired with limited funds. All I have is a checking account paying 0.02%. As far as "passive" investing - what about this strategy? Buying a $1000 12-month CD paying 3% every month for 12 months (kind of a "ladder strategy"). I calculate that I'd end up with $30 each month in dividends (totaling $360 in interest for the year); But what if someone was able to do $10, 000 a month following the same strategy?

Only a few have max for 5 million.

Also yes I have money in Vanguard as well
Plus an index Annuity.

I use one CD
To get me a Rolls Royce every 3-5 years . Or Bentley

I thought it was % monthly so if I deposited 10, 0000 I thought it would be 10000 x 0.025 (2.5%) = $250 per month
