Samsung The Freestyle Portable Projector Review: ALMOST Perfect

The Samsung Freestyle is a compact, portable 550 Lumen Video Projector and TV streaming device that is designed to be a cool gadget to impress your friends! I have high hopes for this device, since I'm admittedly a huge Frame TV fan, and have bought two of them over the last few years.

Going along with the blending-into-the-room thing, the Freestyle comes in four non-standard colors: white, blossom pink, forest green, and coyote beige. The cylindrical unit is 102x173x95mm (or 4x7x3.7 inches), making it very portable and easy to move. It seems like it's the video equivalent of a wireless speaker, designed to throw into your bag and bring out at a party or get-together; turning any wall into a movie theater.

Smart TV streaming built-in
Samsung has built streaming TV right into the projector so there's no need for any external device or dongles-you just need to connect it to your home's Wi-Fi network or grab the wireless device wherever you happen to be. If you don't have a wireless device, you could connect an external device like a Blu-Ray player, or try hot-spotting off your phone. You can control the device with the remote control that's included or the Samsung Smart Things App.

You can also connect it wirelessly to your mobile device to mirror the screen. If you have a Samsung Galaxy phone, just tap the phone anywhere on the Freestyle to mirror the content. It's also possible to AirPlay from an iPhone if that's your jam, but there are a few additional steps that you need to go through. You can also mirror an existing Samsung TV, even if it's in a different room!

Overall review: Samsung Freestyle
This projector is a great idea in theory, but a bit lacking in practice. It seems like it's made to be portable and to be used anywhere, but it doesn't adapt well to bright places. It seems useful for taking along to create impromptu outdoor movie nights but needs to be plugged in at all times, and the speaker isn't the greatest.

On the pro side, it's compact and portable which means it's easy to move around in the house. The design is unique, the image size is quite variable, and there's built-in streaming plus the ability to connect other devices via an adapter cable or wirelessly. There's a built-in speaker but it doesn't provide high-fidelity sound.

i got an open box one in canada for 575 at walmart i couldn't say no for that price. works perfectly. i was surprised to even see the product at walmart. also this is one of the few projectors with netflix built in with out some kinda funky work around.

Brightness is the Achilles heel of all small projectors. Maybe in an interior room with no windows where you won't walk in front of it? Too bad it isn't outdoor suitable for projection decoration during holidays... At $900 USD its just too expensive unless you have that super special niche application.

my god i love my freestyle 2022 i have 4k 49inch screen in front of me and left of me on the direkt wall 100inch freestyle, im in hdmi win11, it does also nice relay the hdmi audio to the boombox by the freestyle bluetooth tizen os

Hi, I read that it needs to be 8.5 feet from the wall to project an 100 inch display. But is the display affected if the distance is increased to 12 ft? Does it go out of focus? Thanks.

DO NOT buy this product, it is faulty in many ways. Do some research on people comments on other posts, almost all customers are not happy. I have had 2 of these projectors and both have issues, the batteries also break very easy. Do not buy, it is a huge waste of money.

The the auto focus is not working and manual focus achieving sharp focus is impossible. It very worst in giving sharp focus. Please don't buy it Samsung is unable to fix it either.
