Our interview series with Khun Pan Pan Narkprasert or Pangina Heals–Thai Waacking Drag Queen, judge on Drag Race Thailand, and advocate– is an exclusive interscholastic series conducted by Hilight (ICS) and Fafa (St.Mark): an interview that aims to explore Khun Pan Pan’s experience at UCLA, share tips on overcoming cyberbullying, boosting self-esteem through affirmations/build mental resilience, his journey in becoming Thailand's representative at the world stage (Rupaul’s Drag Race: UK vs The World), advocacy through increasing visibility and representation, showcase of variety styles of art–with the focus on the evolution of Drag, cultural representation, stage fright and meditation, discovering your passions through exploration/self-discovery, rainbow washing, as well as LGBTQ+ rights.
Through this interview, we hope to also distribute emphasis on the significance of shedding light on taboo topics as well as continuously inspiring, advocating, and raising awareness to these global issues–particularly–gender equality, wellness, representation, colorism, mental illness stigma, and cyber bullying.
We hope to spark and bolster your curiosity with these questions extracted from Pangina Heals’s interview series:
Is art underfunded and underrated in our contemporary society?
How can we showcase indigenous culture through different styles of art?
How to distinguish between genuine pride and corporate rainbow washing?
Based on this interview series with Pangina Heals, what are ways to build mental resilience?
Does conceptual teaching foster learning?
“Why can’t we embrace every single skin color there is, especially with Thailand being next to the equator?”
“You know, when people talk about mental health, it’s very stigmatized, คําว่าบ้า/words like crazy.”
According to Pangina Heals’s quote “The sheep won’t understand the tiger, because the sheep is going to follow the other sheeps, but if you’re the tiger, the sheep won’t understand you”, this portrays, the fact that, we should not succumb to conformity and learn to embrace our uniqueness. As asserted by Pangina, “Yes, be the tiger!”
Thus, we hope all listeners and audiences would glean knowledgeable, applicable insights from Pangina Heals’s personal experiences as well as become empowered and inspired to initiate positive change.
