💯Watched many traps made (about 8 ) differently made, this was the BEST ONE ! Less talking, straight to the point!👍🏽🙂

This worked immediately, and I mean immediately. I had a pretty bad swarm in my kitchen so using your method I set up two overnight and the next morning I came in and it was a total genocide of fruit flies in the traps. Not a single one remaining in the house. Thank you so much for this.

Thought you might like to know, I made one of your traps and it works brilliantly. With in minutes a couple of the little monsters had found there way in and three hours later must have been well over a hundred.
Thank you.

The purpose of the soap is to break the surface tension of the vinegar. When the fly lands on the surface of the liquid, there is no surface tension for them to stand on and get sucked into the liquid. The same is true for mosquito larvae... a little soap, and they can no longer (hang on) to the surface and drown...

Thanks for the support! Here's one for you too. Does this work for house flies?

I hate those flies. They get into everything. Pretty simple and clever. Like that you use materials that most people already have around the house. Thanks for sharing.

I had a problem with fruit flies in my house! I sucked them up in the vacuum cleaner! This was in my kitchen!

The reason for the soap is that it is what scientists call a surfactant. I will break the surface tension of the vinegar and the flies will not be able to float on the top surface of the vinegar. Thanks for sharing your video.

Thanks Gman, Just in time for spring. Done this a long time ago don't know why I quit. Gonna start building this year's now. Soap also breaks the surface tension of the liquid so they drown.

That was a great trap. These work well. I got some TORRO traps and the bait they used smelled just like apple cider vinegar.

I've never had any luck with apple cider vinegar. I put some in a few containers, added a couple drops of dish detergent and left them out for days. I'd see bunches of fruit flies sitting on the rims, but only maybe one or two in the liquid.

I had the best luck using banana pieces as bait. I made some traps from bottles with a small funnel hot-glued through a hole in the lid. This way I can clean and re-use them. They don't kill the flies, but once in, they can't find their way back out. After a few days, I had a bunch in each one. Then I filled them with water to drown the flies, dumped them in the toilet and re-baited them. Even a piece of nectarine doesn't seem to work as well. A squashed green grape caught quite a few though.

When I have fresh fruit in the house, I do my best to keep it from attracting fruit flies. I wrap any scraps (bad spots, pits, etc) in plastic wrap before throwing them out and I double-bag banana peels.

Awesome Gman, the flies get to eat and get clean all at the same time!
