I have a stack of about 50 games. My Xbox will read about 10 of them. The others give me an error that it might not be an Xbox disc. I resurfaced a few and cleaned the inside of the system, but that didn’t help. Any ideas?

I've been trying to get into retro gaming via the OG Xbox. I the first OG Xbox I bought was a modded version and did play discs fine until it didn't. Next I bought another OG Xbox, this time unmodded, and the discs would not play at all with the same error message every time.

I will try this method, as I have seen it been done across different videos, but I really have to wonder about the hardware of the OG Xbox. Why after buying two consoles does the disc drive cease to work. Just how fragile are these consoles?

Trying this on mine but the disc drive doesn't look like yours on the inside. I can't get the metal cover off. It has a samsung label on the metal cover.

why do you need to unhook ribbon? also, shouldn't you test before putting top back on in case it doesn't work after and requires more maintenance
