I personally loved American Dirt. It was, in my opinion, the victim of an unfair cancel culture attack that got out of control. I am a social progressive, but thought the backlash against this book was unfair when I looked into the controversy. Decide for yourself:)

one of my earliest reads way back in my teens is a novella called "the snow goose" by paul gallico. although i did not fully understand the war setting of the story (i'm asian and didn't know much about the more specific details of ww2 at the time), this is one of the first books that really hooked me into reading.

i can't even remember where i got the book. this is also my first experience as a reader to heartily recommend it right away to a friend only to be met with their utter lack of interest 😹

Omg omg omg I’m one who recommended The Prison Healer to you!! Yes!! This is one of my favourite modern trilogies. I hope you love it. The first book is so good, the second was a bit slower paced for me and picked up midway, but the third is absolutely brilliant again from start to finish!! I never wanted it to end.

Edit: if you’re interested in James Patterson, his Alex Cross series is great. Patterson is famous for short chapters, so if you have the ‘just one more chapter’ thing like I do, it works a treat when reading his books because you don’t feel guilty for reading 😂

I tend to start series as well, but I need to get them finished. I’m trying to change that. i’m reading the first book in a large sci-fi series and i love it, so you know I am determined to read the whole thing LOL Sword of Kaigen still is on KU, by the way :) I say you start the new one that you spent all that money on 😊

In fact American Dirt did cause a general media & social media controversy when it was released. Despite a huge budget spent marketing it the general consensus on booktube was it was dirt!
