I have build php based application with million of user traffic and perfectly running.. I have build ott, ecomerce apps with php and its works just fine... . About debugging... php supports debugging Based on my experince u will get lots of issue while heavy work load.. on high user traffic on any language... Its depends how to configuring ur apps.
