Railgun has RAILS while coilguns have COILS

This is a COILgun. A RAILgun uses RAILS, as the name suggests. The rails got very high voltage and are responsible for sending a projectile. A railgun can experience significant lorenz force or even vaporize itself and thats why it isnt viable yet. Lorenz force is not thag big of a problem cause you can just anchor wires, but vaporization makes it so the rails and barrel need to be frequently replaced.

The problem with these is that to be effective weapons or launchers, so much lower is needed that they often damage themselves from a single use, and need constant repair.
