Novena to Our Lady of Sorrows - Day 1

Novena to Our Lady of Sorrows, reflections by Catholic speakers Ken and Janelle Yasinski. Over the next nine days we will focus on the seven sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Each video is serves to dispose the heart to pray the Chaplet of the seven sorrows, found as a link at the end of each video. Today we focus on day 1 of the novena, also known as the seven dolors of Mary.

Pray the Rosary of the Seven Sorrows Of Mary:

This traditional prayer begins on Sept 6 and end the day before the feast of our Lady of Sorrows.

I only recently discovered the Seven Sorrows of Our Lady rosary and as I didn’t own one I decided to make one. I ordered the Delores medals, beads and used fishing line that used to belong to my deceased father and made a beautiful Our Lady of Sorrows rosary which I will treasure forever. Meditating on the mysteries moved me to tears whilst praying it.

This prayer also became popular again after the Virgin Mary made an apparition in Kibeho Africa in 1982 to the visionary Marie Claire. The Virgin was saddened that very few people are doing this rosary and had Marie Claire teach it to people, but Virgin Mary made clear that is is not to take the place of the Rosary. ( the book is excellent)
