For quite a few years Jacob could be found regularly driving around his local area on the hunt for scrap metal. People often leave out broken equipment such as fridges, hot water systems, bikes, barbeques on the side of the road, awaiting collection.
Scrappers like Jacob would collect this junk and take it home. There they strip the junk for valuable metals such as copper, lead and stainless steel.
This metal could then be cashed in at the local metal scrap yard. This video gives some idea of what the scrappers life is like!
