This test is dumb. 1) The hammer drop heights are different. 2) The cheap one wraps around the glass more, so it’s contact with the wall behind it - the glass will never break. The pad is transferring force to the wall. The expensive one is just crushing the glass because there is a gap to the back wall. It has nothing to do with the protection of the pad.
