Im 2/3 of the way through book 1 and my favorite characters so far have been Cat and Valka.

My favorite character has to be Hadrian. I just like how complex he is and doesn’t narrate himself as this perfect character. Shows how damaged and honest he is.

I love Aristides! As someone with chronic pain and eds his intus maladies are like disability rep and seeing them in a super intelligent and effective person who doesn’t shy away from danger is super cool and not something you run across in most books! Instead of focusing on his limitations you see what he can offer. I love this series thanks so much!

Valka is my fav character as she was the lifeline for more than just Hadrian. She has my heart……..

(Spoiler Warning) Boring answer but my favorite character is Hadrian Marlowe, now let me explain. I was able to deeply relate to how Hadrian is literally and feels manipulated and controlled at almost every turn of his life. By the man in charge of Emesh, by The Emperor, and even the Quiet. But eventually when we reach the fourth arc of Disquiet Gods and the words “We are beasts of burden, we men. We struggle and by that struggle we are filled” just echo in my mind every day. Seeing Hadrian on the Isle of the dead after Gibson dies has been the only scene in my entire life to make me cry and seeing the journey which Hadrian has gone through has been a cathartic experience for me, a cleansing one. Seeing him push on and on through the depravity of Kharn Sagara and through the deaths of almost every person that he has ever loved has given me a love for my wonderful life that I cannot begin to describe. In my life I must see people who I despise but in my head I think “Seek Hardship” and I must think to myself. Is it harder to hate or to resist that hate. I chose my answer and Hadrian’s journey has been a catalyst in that.
