Adding composite armor to pretty much any tank makes it look 20 years newer than it is lol

The wood was actually for getting out of mud

The wood on the IS-2 isn’t used for protection. It’s used for unditiching if it were to get stuck in mud or something. Wood can and has been used as extra protection, probably most famously to stop magnetic mines from being attached to tanks, but traditionally isn’t a great source of protection due to wood being weak compared to the metals tanks are made out of. Also pontoons aren’t supposed to be used as armor either, granted due to how much empty space is inside they can theoretically be used as spaced armor but it’s almost useless against any solid penetrators.

Those pontoons have absorbed so many shots, I love the Ka-Chi for that reason.

Leopards with their additional composite screens looks thicc and bulky af. Same with russian T- tanks with ERA

Fun fact the wood the soviets used was to help the drivers get out of being stuck in the mud. They used it to put it under the tracks so the tank can have an easier time getting unstuck

Adding chicken wire to a pershing in order to make it better is possibly the most american thing i have seen in my life.

The reason why Russian vehicles have the wood is actually just to help them if they get stuck in mud, and seeing how wet and muddy the war they’re fighting is, definitely was a smart move to keep them

Ka-mi deserves floats too, its no fair that only the ka-chi get them.

The composite armor made that one tank (which i assume is a Leopard) turn from a Leopard 1 into a 2A7
