UNIVERSAL CHINESE MOTORCYCLE? 2017 CFMoto 650NK ABS Review First Ride LAMS

CFMoto is leading the way for Chinese motorcycle manufacturers, making a 650 naked which competes strongly against the Japanese, a few thousand dollars cheaper…

In this video we take a look at the 650NK ABS.

Did you know?
CFMoto is the largest exporter of ATVs in China and has been distributed in Australia for about 10 years now. The company has sold roughly 15-thousand vehicles in Australia in that time, approximately one third of its sales are motorcycles.
The CFMoto NK range is the result of a co-operation between CFMoto and KTM in 2012. So CFMoto assembles KTM’s small-capacity Dukes for the Chinese domestic market, and KTM introduced CFMoto to Kiska Design – the firm behind all of KTM’s designs since the early nineties. Kiska has already worked with CFMoto to design its 150cc NK, and more recently it restyled the current 650NK.
CFMoto produces two variants of this bike with only one difference, ABS brakes. There is also a smaller-capacity 400cc NK available in the same non-ABS and ABS models. CFMoto has done a great job making the 400 and 650 look exactly the same.

Learner Approved in Australia, the CFMoto 650NK ABS might well be one of the best value buys in the country.

Great review on the WK650NK ABS. Honest and thorough!

Yeah well they have the basics right, the 400nk engine is reliable, the frame and suspension are good, but there are a lot of little glitches in the electrics that let them down, particularly rain always getting into the display console, the back break keeps requiring re-bleeding every 2 weeks, front brakes however are excellent. Still a little way to go for cfmoto.

I live in a southern city in China. As my old Suzuki EN-125 is running closer to the compulsory expiration (13 years of usage, it probably exists only in China) required by the government, I've been spending about 2 months on studying and digging info on bikes, trying to lock down the one would cater my needs. In the first place, I was thrilled by the design of bikes made by CFMOTO, Benelli (now owned by Qianjiang) etc.; later, I read so many quality-complaining threads from major forums where all motorcyle fans and users are gathering and discussing their beloved rides manufactured by the mentioned bike makers. Coolant leakage, main frame broken off behind steering rod during riding, engine oil seeping several weeks after purchasing, disordered wiring, quirky ergonomics, 9L of KTM Duke 390's fuel tank (11L as mentioned on the official website), fuel supply joints off and fuel splashing on the hot engine during their touring, one user was even asking one of the mentioned manufacture to forgive his complaining over engine failure after several months riding just in order to get the issue solved many!!! Guess what?!!! The responding of after-sales-service of these manufacturers are just like Master Oogway (or a sloth) is having his thousand-years And these of course scared my shit off!!! Now I'd rather to choose 2017 Kawasaki Z250 ABS or 2017 model of KTM Duke 390 (produced in India and assembled in Philippines) or other directly imported motorcycle! Part of me, I go with opinions by Spuds, lenon1980 and Stepen Cribbs; and another part of me is really hoping that motorcycle manufacturers in China will be better in their crafts and quality management in near future...

The Chinese will get there in terms of build quality and dealer servicing, but I think it will take them longer than the Japaneese  to sort things out. (But don't be surprised to wake up one day and the next "big three" in the motorcycle industry to be from China)

I have the 2014 here in the states and if they actually still sold these here I'd def pick up a newer model. Too bad they dont.

I own a Chinese scooter since only problems I have had is I broke a headlight not moving a ladder careful enough in the garage.
The only issue I have with the whole deal is the lousy dealer getting a headlight has been a chore.
Should have paid $500 more and got a Kymco..., they seem to have real dealers with parts on the shelf and not housed in dilapidated old gas stations.

I live in China. So I heard this bike is basically the best model made by Chinese. Especially when it's retuned 2016. A lot of things has changed, compared to the 2015 model.

Better to buy an old Kawasaki ER6N 650

Kiska just made a bad move. Cf Moto will steal their design, not compensate them in the future and probably drive Kiska out of the Chinese motorcycle market permanently.

Sorry but these bikes are just pure junk just like all Chinese vehicles. Lots of owners are having lots of problems with them and finding spares is proving difficult.

Learners just stick for a Jap 300 for the same price and you will not be disappointed!
