// ABOUT THIS VIDEO

This coffee table was the first woodworking project that I ever designed and built on my own. In this video, I am re making it because the first time it didn't work out so well. This was a fun video because I really got to track the progress I've made over the past several years.

Hey all - hope you enjoyed the new video - it was really fun to get to re-make this piece that holds a special place in my heart. BTW - if you're wondering why my VO sounds extra dry. It was 11:30 at night, and I was trying not to wake up the house :-)

I like how you speak slowly and have calm, soothing music in the background. It forces us viewers to listen to everything you say whether we lie to or not. Most carpenters rush through all the details and steps you just automatically don't listen to them.

Could not even watch more than 30 seconds before commenting! This is outstanding! Now i want one in my home...

The original table was just more art than furniture. Art doesn't need to be serviceable. Fun watch as ever Chris, thanks.

Chris, it's funny because, similarly to how you came back to this project after a while, I have found myself coming back to this video a few months later to draw out new inspiration. I think this is one of my favorite projects of yours for its simplicity and refinement. Thank you.

Thanks Chris, your combination of fine film-making, craftsmanship, and narrative savvy make your films among the most pleasurable of all those I watch.

Dude, your videos are something else. I don't know why, but they're just so soothing. The voice over makes it easy to watch/listen to. Also lets note...7 years and a "Festool Domino" later.

I can't decide if you're an awesome filmmaker, an incredible storyteller or a genius woodworker.

Chris,
We have all watched thousands of woodworking videos. I must say your video and editing style, along with your comments along the way are extremely well done. Bravo! Keep it up. Cute wife and kid too.

Still the best woodworking channel on YouTube.

I like that you're describing your process in the videos more while keeping the philosophical aspects too. I'm planning on taking a wood working class just to get the basics down. Its great to know you started in a similar way.

I love your channel Chris, your work, the background music, your calm explanation, your photographic skills and of course your woodworking skills, one of my favourite channels for all those reasons.

This shows exactly why you should cherish your mistakes, because only by making mistakes you are able to learn. I am sure this piece gives you a satisfying feeling and remind you of the learning process you have gone through the last few years. Well done!

Future Chris... thank you for your almost Zen like videos. They inspire a lot of people to go out and try... make mistakes.. enjoy the experience and not base success on the outcome but on the journey.

hey Chris
your videos are extremely inspiring, your philosophy talk is great! please dont stop with it
my favorite video so far has been the one about gnoochi boards. Not just because of the buillding process itself, but because of your "family talk" on the backgroung, really inspired me, thanks! God bless you and your family!

This is my favorite piece I've seen you make. The tenons attaching the top make it "float" over the base in a very satisfying manner. Investing in some good chisels and a few hand planes would enable you to explore better joinery. Not everything can, or should be cut with a power tool. Love your work!

Firstly I must just say that I am a huge fan of your work. The angles you use really add a touch of class to your designs. I have watched many of your videos in awe. Being a novice wood worker I can appreciate the effort you put into the design and build processes and your film making skills are brilliant. Also due to being a novice wood worker I watch many different channels and have learned to respect seasonal wood movement and the need to cater for it in my designs. Maybe I am just paranoid from lack of experience but I was concerned that this build does not seem to cater for this. I am not sure if I am missing something or being overly paranoid. Please comment on if you ignored wood movement and if the project has since cracked or if my understanding is flawed.

The combination of fine carpentry and great contemporary design is really cool, and the fact that Chris is not a loud chatter box is a big bonus, understated and interesting.

hearing you talk about your process was like reading a piece of poetry, very good walkthrough. I'm inspired to look more into wood working.
